How We Verify Artists

What we check

Before an artist is listed as verified on Tatsby, we confirm the following:

• State tattoo licence.Texas requires tattoo artists to work in a licensed studio. We confirm the artist's licence and that it is current.
• Studio location.We confirm the artist works at a real, registered studio address in the Dallas–Fort Worth area.
• Bloodborne pathogen training. We ask for current certification, which is the standard hygiene qualification for the trade.
• Portfolio ownership.We review the portfolio and confirm the work shown is the artist's own.
• Identity. We confirm the person managing the profile is the artist it represents.

What the badge does not mean

Verification is a credentials check, not an endorsement of artistic quality, pricing, or availability. It does not guarantee a booking, a price, or a particular outcome from a session. Ratings and reviews on a profile come from clients, not from Tatsby — we do not write, edit, or reorder them.

Artists who are not yet rated

A newly listed artist may be fully verified but have no reviews yet. Those profiles show “New to Tatsby” rather than a zero rating, because no rating is not the same as a bad one.

Age requirement

Tattooing in Texas is restricted to clients aged 18 and over, with limited exceptions that require a parent or legal guardian to be present and to consent. Artists on Tatsby are expected to check identification before any session.

Reporting a problem

If something on a profile looks wrong — a licence you believe has lapsed, portfolio work that is not the artist's own, or a safety concern — use the Support Center. We remove the verified badge while we investigate.
